Biking around Wild Dunes on Thursday

We biked around Wild Dunes Thursday afternoon when we got done at the beach. If you go to the Wild Dunes website, you can go to their interactive map. (Or you can just click on that link.) Phil's aunt's place is in the upper right corner (#25 Lakeside). We biked from there all the way to Waterway Island (top left), then circled back. It was a long trip, but it was a lot of fun. The homes on Waterway Island were HUGE and some of them were even gorgeous. We saw this really cool flower pot man with flower pot puppies. And we also saw this really cute waterfall. There were tons of turtles everywhere; here's a shot of some of them that Phil ran across the road to take for me. Then we were going to play some tennis, but Phil's legs hurt. OK, mine did, too. So, we watched a movie then got ready for our fancy dinner out. Will post more about that later.

The Beach-Thursday in Isle of Palms

On Thursday, Phil and I went to the beach. We figured we had to go eventually. It was really beautiful, even though the water was really chilly. We only saw about 3 or 4 people on the beach other than ourselves, and this was about 11:30 in the morning. We did put our feet in the water and walked for a while. Phil even helped me look for shells, but we didn't really find any we liked. Even so, it was great to be on the beach at the beginning of March!

My Favorite House in Charleston

So, we wandered all over downtown Charleston Wednesday after we got done with the boats... err, I mean ships. When we got done with the ships. We walked all along the Charleston City Market (on N and S Market Sts), got a Ben & Jerry's milkshake, and then we walked down to the Battery. Needless to say, after all the walking, both mine and Phil's feet were really tired. But, we decided to return up East Bay St to where we'd parked the car instead of walking back up Meeting St. On our way back, I made Phil walk up one of the streets (don't remember which one, now) and take a picture of this house. I absolutely love it! There were plenty of big homes, beautiful homes, and big and beautiful homes, but this one was the prettiest, in my opinion. (Besides, taking a picture of this house was a nice break for my feet!) What do you all think about the house?

Charleston Trip Revisited-Wed. lunch

We had lunch at Vickery's Bar and Grill in Mt. Pleasant before we headed to Patriot's Point and all those ships (I discovered they are NEVER referred to as boats). It was delicious. Phil got a cheeseburger; I got a shrimp Po'boy, and we shared halves. How cute, right? :)
We got to eat outside on their deck. Isn't it a great view? We also had a few visitors. Here's a pic of one.

Tuesday in Charleston

Phil and I just relaxed on Monday, but on Tuesday we hit the town. Charleston can be very confusing. Our first stop was going to be an outlet mall in Charleston, the Tanger Outlet Center. Well, it was a great idea, right? And it was kind of necessary. I had packed all of my high heels, but I had forgotten my tennis shoes. Go figure...
So Phil and I just knew we could run by the outlet mall, pick up some shoes (and maybe some other things), then get down to some serious sight-seeing. But, did it happen that way? Of course not.
After driving around all of creation and beyond, we finally stopped by the Charleston's visitors center. The very nice people there gave us a map of downtown (which turned out to be really useful on Wednesday but didn't help us at all on Tuesday) and pointed out the "more important" sites to see while we were there. But, that didn't help us find the outlet mall. We figured, hey, it'll be on the nice map they gave us. Well, it wasn't.
So, guess what we did. Yep, that's right. We drove all around creation and beyond AGAIN! Then we got really desperate and called The Mom and asked her to look up the outlet mall online to get us some more directions. But, of course, The Mom wasn't even at home. No help there at all.
So, what did we do? We finally gave up. We found the interstate, dug out our directions back to Isle of Palms, and we were going to forget about it. We tried our darnedest to figure out how we could be so turned around and so off course, but it just didn't make sense. The directions were clear. We'd even written them down. How could we not find this place?
Well, after all excuses and explanations had been thought of and rehashed and we both fell silent, I looked up to see a beautiful site beside the interstate. Would you believe it? There on the side of the road was a billboard for none other than Tanger Outlet Center.
We knew we'd been close, but we were so much closer than we had thought. Two exits later, we're pulling into the parking lot. (Just for the record, the directions we had were no where close to where the outlet mall actually was. So, it wasn't really our fault we couldn't find it.)
We were both so proud of ourselves, we both got several things, including a matching pair of Reebok tennis shoes (which, believe it or not we picked out independently; it was a little scary), a free pair of heels for me (buy 2 pair of shoes, get a 3rd free deal), some Bath & Body Works stuff (for me), a cute tennis skirt/short thing from Izod (for me), a beautiful mortar & pestle (definitely for me), some shorts from Old Navy (again, for me), and a really durable sunglass case (for Phil).
We had a lot of fun, and, except for the shoes and Old Navy shorts, we didn't spend more than $10 in any store. Didn't we do good? :)

Dad's there!!

And the only reason I know is he's already having printer issues. I talked him through it last night before Phil and I went to dinner (we dressed up fancy and everything!!). He sounded really good; said there was about 4" of snow on the ground down there and it was still pouring the snow. I had to laugh at that because it was gorgeous here yesterday. Oh, well. Just wanted to let everyone know he's ok; he sounded really good, and he was geared up for the Thursday night Bible study there. Love you all. Will post more pictures later.

USS Yorktown and other ships

Well, we spent the day touring four (yes, four) ships. We walked all over the cutter USCG Ingham, the destroyer USS Laffey, the submarine USS Clamagore, and the aircraft carrier USS Yorktown. Here are some of the pics. It was lots of fun, even for me. Then we went to Market St in Charleston and walked EVERYWHERE! Will give a more in-depth update later.
Love you all!!
