No stress over the polls...

Just wanted to make sure no one was paying too much attention to the polls. Here's a part of some analysis from a hobby-statistician that makes a lot of sense. Here's the main gist of the post:

As you can see, there is no clear consensus from these results. Taken altogether, the 50 states project an Obama lead of 0.99 points right now. When the range of skewing is considered, the range could be anywhere nationally from Obama by 3.05 to McCain by 4.71 points.

Once again, the indications from the math are that the race is both close and fluid.

Whew... great news, isn't it? Here's the whole article.

Great news! Obama wants to "spread the wealth"...

Check out Obama's answer to a plumber who said: "“Your new tax plan is going to tax me more. Isn’t it?”

His answer:“It’s not that I want to punish your success, I just want to make sure that everybody that is behind you, that they have a chance for success too. I think that when you spread the wealth around, it’s good for everybody.”

Sarah Palin ROCKS!!!

Watch this Fox Report. Pay attention to the very end, where Sarah Palin tells an anti-war protester that he's lucky her son is in Iraq fighting for his freedom to interrupt her speech. Can't get much more awesomer than that!!

In case you were wondering about the Financial Crisis...

UPDATE 2: Senate Bailout vote scheduled tomorrow at 9 AM
UPDATE: Bailout vote fails in the House

From AnnCoulter.com
Under Clinton, the entire federal government put massive pressure on banks to grant more mortgages to the poor and minorities. Clinton's secretary of Housing and Urban Development, Andrew Cuomo, investigated Fannie Mae for racial discrimination and proposed that 50 percent of Fannie Mae's and Freddie Mac's portfolio be made up of loans to low- to moderate-income borrowers by the year 2001.

Instead of looking at "outdated criteria," such as the mortgage applicant's credit history and ability to make a down payment, banks were encouraged to consider nontraditional measures of credit-worthiness, such as having a good jump shot or having a missing child named "Caylee."

Threatening lawsuits, Clinton's Federal Reserve demanded that banks treat welfare payments and unemployment benefits as valid income sources to qualify for a mortgage. That isn't a joke -- it's a fact.

As predicted, it was the Democrats...
Go to Ann Coulter's site and read the whole thing. She makes some very good points...

Palin for Vice President!

I wasn't very excited with John McCain as the Republican candidate for President, as I'm sure most of you already knew. However, his choice of Sarah Palin for Vice President has me THRILLED!! View her profile at Wikipedia here.
She has already fought corruption in her home state of Alaska within her own party, and I know she will continue to do so in Washington. But probably her most important accomplishment is she's the mother of five children (5!), and, after prenatal testing of her youngest child showed he would have Down syndrome, she chose to have him regardless. She's a very strong, capable woman who will do wonders for our nation. Here's the video of her acceptance speech next to John McCain. After you watch it, I'll be surprised if you're not as thrilled as I am.

UPDATE: See the campaign sticker of McCain-Palin to the right? It's a link to their campaign website and where to contribute to their campaign. Just in case. :)

The not-so-new politician

I've recently been hearing this ad on radio stations here in Raleigh. Well, as always, it's not exactly true... Here's a USA Today story about it:

"Nothing's changed," Sen. Barack Obama says into the camera, "except now Exxon's making $40 billion a year, and we're paying $3.50 for gas. … I don't take money from oil companies or Washington lobbyists, and I won't let them block change anymore."

Obama's ad, which has been airing in Pennsylvania as the April 22 primary approaches, is technically true but misleading, as non-partisan FactCheck.org and Hillary Rodham Clinton's campaign have been quick to point out.

It's accurate that Obama doesn't take money from oil companies; neither do his opponents, because corporate contributions are illegal. But Obama, like Clinton and John McCain, has accepted donations from oil and gas company employees — $222,309 in Obama's case from donors from Exxon, Shell, Chevron and others, according to campaign-finance data. Two oil company CEOs have pledged to raise at least $50,000 each as part of Obama's fundraising team.

So, he's a "new" politician, huh? Yeah, right...

Oh, and just so we're clear here. Exxon only makes about 9 cents on the gallon, while the government (federal and state) take around 40 cents per gallon. So, who do we really need to change?

"Tired of Pressing 1 for English?"...

From ProEnglish

Please co-sponsor S. 2719 to repeal Exec. Order 13166
Urge your Senators to repeal this multilingual mandate!

Fed up with “Press 1 for English?”

U.S. Senator Elizabeth Dole (R-NC) is trying to do something about it.

She has introduced a bill, S. 2719, to repeal Presidential Executive Order 13166, which forces government offices and federal contractors to provide services in multiple languages.

The order – which was never debated or approved by Congress -- is an attempt by government bureaucrats to force multilingualism on the American people without their consent.

The Office of Management and Budget estimates it already costs taxpayers billions of dollars annually. When fully implemented, the cost will be astronomical.

Thought everyone would like to sign this petition. I'm so glad Sen. Dole is doing this. Hopefully this will go through. Go here to sign the petition.

Gen. Petraeus in Washington, D.C.

General Petraeus is getting hammered as he testifies before Congress today. In order to brighten up his day, if you click on the picture of the card, you can go and sign a thank you card for Gen. Patraeus. He's doing such a great job over in Iraq, I really think he deserves our thanks. I mean, he deserves it simply for putting up with questions from Sen. Kennedy, but also for his hard work in Iraq. Davy's safer in Qatar because of him, which says enough for me. Go here if you'd like to read more about his testimony.

FITNA: you need to watch it

I wasn't going to post this, but, predictably, the Muslim world is up in arms about it. They are threatening to boycott all Danish products just because the producer of this 17 minute film is Dutch. They have also gotten several video sites to ban this video. As many people agree, the best way to respond to free speech you don't like is more free speech, not less. So, in exercising my free speech, here's a link to the video: The movie Fitna
Be forewarned, there are some very disturbing scenes in this video, but I still think it's worth watching. Above is a screencap of a sign from one of the many Muslim protests. Says a lot, doesn't it?

UPDATE: Here's a link to the petition to support the producer of FITNA.

h/t Bad Example, Michelle Malkin, and Hot Air, though I've seen this on quite a few other sites...

Planned Parenthood: Raking in the Dough

Can you believe this? From the American Life League:

"It is absolutely incredible," said Jim Sedlak, vice president of American Life League, "but the annual report just released by Planned Parenthood Federation of America shows that $114 million of the government funds received by Planned Parenthood were not needed and only increased the abortion giant's assets."

Sedlak was referring to the 2006 -- 2007 PPFA annual report released late last week. The report shows that PPFA had a total income of $1.02 billion. Of that total, $258.7 million came from donations; $366.9 million came from fees charged customers at its clinics; and a whopping $336.7 million came from the American taxpayer.

The report also showed that PPFA recorded a profit of $114.8 million and increased its total assets to $1.12 billion.

"Taxpayer money represents 33 percent of Planned Parenthood's income," continued Sedlak, "yet it is clear that it does not need all this money. In these days of financial hardship all across the country, why are American taxpayers being forced to fund a billion dollar corporation that clearly does not need the money?"

Sedlak called for the immediate cessation of all taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood and asked all concerned citizens to go to www.StopPlannedParenthoodTaxFunding.com and sign the petition demanding the halt of Planned Parenthood's pillaging of our taxpayer monies.

American Life League was co-founded in 1979 by Judie Brown. It is the largest grassroots Catholic pro-life organization in the United States and is committed to the protection of all innocent human beings from the moment of creation to natural death.

If you want to sign the petition to try and stop Planned Parenthood from getting taxpayer funding, go here.
