Speeding

Two California Highway Patrol Officers were conducting speeding enforcement on I-15, Northeast of Marine Corps Air Station, Miramar, near San Diego.

One of the officers was using a hand held radar device to check speeding vehicles approaching near the crest of a hill.

The officers were suddenly surprised when the radar gun began reading 300 miles per hour. The officer attempted to reset the radar gun, but it would not reset and turned off.

Just then a deafening roar over the treetops revealed that the radar had in fact locked onto a USMC F/A-18 Hornet which was engaged in a low flying exercise near the location.

Back at the CHP Headquarters the Patrol Captain fired off a complaint to the USMC Base Commander.

Back came a reply in true USMC style:

"Thank you for the message, which allows us to complete the file on this incident.

You may be interested to know that the tactical computer in the Hornet had detected the presence of, and subsequently locked onto your hostile radar equipment and automatically sent a jamming signal back to it.

Furthermore, an air to ground missile aboard the fully armed aircraft had also automatically locked onto your equipment.

Fortunately the Marine pilot flying the Hornet recognized the situation for what it was, and quickly responded to the missile system alert status and was able to override the automated defense system before the missile was launched and your hostile radar was destroyed.

Thank you for your concerns."

The Beach-Thursday in Isle of Palms

On Thursday, Phil and I went to the beach. We figured we had to go eventually. It was really beautiful, even though the water was really chilly. We only saw about 3 or 4 people on the beach other than ourselves, and this was about 11:30 in the morning. We did put our feet in the water and walked for a while. Phil even helped me look for shells, but we didn't really find any we liked. Even so, it was great to be on the beach at the beginning of March!

Still the Mom!!

It was so good to read all the posts this week. It is soooooooo quiet here. Lilly went home today and chain is sad. Merry took me out to eat lunch yesterday and we took Sophie for a walk after. Making it a fun day. I ate lunch with mom and dad on Sunday and Mom took my picture of Davo that Victoria gave me. Sad But She put it on her fridge. (that's what moms and gradmoms do) Yes I think Davo is filling out a bit. !!!Hooray! Hooray !Hooray!!! I'm cooking Dinner for Anna and Hondo tomorrow. I am doing a lot of Knitting. Hooray! I am missing your dad a bit. ONe week down and a few zillion to go. I'll be working at the Flower shop during the holiday, and the Market. That will be fun. Hope all is good for you guys. I know Victoria and Suzy will have a blast. I want to hear about Davo's trip off base. That sounds like fun. Keep all the great posts coming. I read this every day and laugh and smile all day from some of the funny things you-all come up with.!!You guys have my heart!!!

Hello hello

Hello hello! Hope everyone is doing well. This blog is so much fun, reading it is the first thing I do when I come to work and then I email the new posts to Davy. I know he has been enjoying them also.

Nothing too much to report on. Just working away as usual and trying to have some fun. Last weekend was the first time in a very long time that I went to the beach and of course not realizing how pale I had become the hour resulted in a wicked sunburn. Oh well, that will teach me to ever go out without 50 spf. Then this past weekend I was invited to attend the American Red Cross Polo Luncheon at the Palm Beach International Polo Fields. It was lots of fun seeing everyone in their beutiful outfits and hats, but of course there were also the ridiculous outfits so they were funny to see too. I met some nice people and only realized after the fact that I had not only said hello to and sat back to back (not even 3 inches) from the President of Mexico! Way to go Victoria, goodness I can be rather oblivious sometimes :). Oh well! But, I must say that the highlight of the day was watching the polo match. There is honestly nothing more handsome then a polo player on his pony, ooh la la!

Next week Suzy comes to visit me for 2 days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am soooooooooooooooooooo excited! Not sure what we will do, but I'm sure it will be fun :). Promise to take lots of pictures!

So that is it from me. Hope you like the new picture of Davy. Isn't he just so handsome?! and is it just me or does it look like he is filling out? Anyways here is blurb from him and of course he just couldn't resisit sticking in the jokes :) -

hey everyone, Vic has been keeping me updated about the blog. I'm surprised suzy was able to figure out how to use the Internet let alone make a blog. Impressive sue, keep it up and you'll finally move past "the email user" to a whole new level, "the blogger"....not really an improvement, they tend to be boring and extremely nerdy. Usually living in an apartment above a garage, spending all day on a comp talking to other people that spend all day on the computer. All the while trying to convince them that you are right. Though, it is only acceptable if you are paid to do it, that makes it alright ^-^...though still boring. (I definitely cant make another blogger joke for at least a week after that, but i can make a french one ^-^'). Anyways, Glad to hear ya made it to Texas dad, hope your having fun. Anna, hows your job going, are you liking it better? Mom, are you still Mom? If not then that would be weird. Sue, have you done something other than study (NOOOO, of course not ^-^ ). Well, if you couldn't tell Vic made me make this so that I had finally put something on the blog. So anyways, I'm doing my 12/7, and hopefully going off base Thursday, Wednesday night for yall. I'm trying to get on a trip that the cac offers, Arabian Adventures tour. Supposedly we get to ride four wheelers out on the sand dunes and race camels, hold the famous hunting falcons that is kind of a status symbol in these countries. We'll probably go to the souqs and the mall, which I'm hoping on. I just cant wait to get out of groundhogs day and off base into some sort of actual civilization again. Even if every one wears a dress and females look like Casper's evil twin ^-^ (couldn't help it). By the way did yall know that "Allah cannot see into Bahrain"? apparently Allah cant see into certain countries, but he can see into the US. Think about that one for a bit and you'll be confused as all get out. eh whatever, we don't really have to much going on around here. I'm pretty bored mostly, sometimes we will press a button, though most nights we wont press one. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining, it's best it's like this, but sheesh French is just not that interesting. People that speak it must be very boring people, it's got to be the least useful language in the world, course so are the french in general (Yes!, ok well now I'm done with my jokes for the next week or two, while I wait for vic to cool off enough to let me do them again ^-^). Oh, by the way I'm studying french if ya couldn't tell, and its coming ok. Anyways, I'm done here. Ya'll have a wonderful day/week.

xoxox,

Vic and Davy

I'm working--not really--just here.

So, I kept the girls (Riley, 5 and Kaylin, 22mo) on Sat. I managed to safely travel to wal-mart, shop (for 1 hr), get the necessary things, run with the 5yo while carrying the 22 mo old to the bathroom, cover the automatic flusher while we are all squeezed into one stall (not the handicapped) so the 5 yo doesn't freak out, actually find the full buggy where I left it, check out, AND load the kids and the bags without either getting run over or forgotten. Whew!!! I was slightly nervous, but I didn't have kid food at the house so I had to go. Thankfully I didn't lose or hurt them!!! I would have died!! However Kaylin was thirsty at this point, no juice(diarrhea), so I had bought Sprite for Riley and water for Kaylin--While pouring the water into the sippy cup, I dumped the sippy cup of water all over Kaylin (I don't have the 24 hands and arms moms have). She had to ride the whole way to my house with a soaked jacket, pants and carseat. We would have gone to the park, but the wind was throwing me around, so we went back to my house. In 5 minutes, there were the small amount of toys at my house, all over my small living room.... I had peanut butter and jelly all over me--i had to cut the crusts off. Anyway, it was great fun until time for Kaylin's nap. She calls me "Nana". She got so mad at me "Nana No, Nana NO," over and over until she fell asleep in my arms, twisted like a pretzel. Riley found the bassinet full of stuffed aminals and played vet with each one..... Hondo got back from Anderson, SC about 445/5pm and we were still going strong. I had to watch BARNEY TWICE!!! It was a good day. I fixed pizza for dinner with a salad and fruit...they didn't like the pizza--they picked it out. So I made peanut butter and jelly again. Amazingly returned them to "Mimi's" (Amber's mom) house in one piece and happy around 630p. Went to the Brick Oven (k-ville) for dinner with Hondo, came home, cleaned up the toy vomit(toy eruption covering the whole downstairs of my tiny house) !!!! Was in bed by 1030p.

Up at 545a with one hour less sleep due to Daylight savings drove to Baptist to work. Got report on my patients...... RAN to the bathroom to puke......talked to my research boss and the nurses......RAN to the bathroom and puked.....Told the charge nurse I had to GO!!!(645a-815a). Dry heaved all the way home....passed out on the couch. 2ND time in 3.75 years I didn't work due to illness (not that I haven't been sick before). Who knows what it was? Food? Daycare germs from the kids? just a bug? I'm better now, that's all that matters.

I am very proud of taking care of the two---I did better than I expected--I didn't forget anyone, there weren't any "accidents", I fed them both and they ate, they were clean and happy when they left. I'd say that was a pretty good job. (Will post pics when I get some, I don't have a fancy camera like the rest of you!!!)

Gardening for the day...

Phil (aka: CopperWolf) and I played in our front yard this afternoon. Some of you who have been by the house and have seen our very dead looking boxwood by the front steps. Well, as we were pruning down our out-of-control tea rose bush and pulling weeds, I mentioned to Phil that I would love to get rid of the small, dead-looking boxwood and put some rose bushes in it's place. He, being Phil, told me he would just dig it out for me right then and there. I had talked to Dad about it before, and he had mentioned how hard it was to dig up a boxwood. And of course, I shared this information with Phil. So, what did he do?
He dug up the ugly, seemingly dead boxwood (during the digging we quickly discovered it was just playing dead). Phil pointed out this was clear evidence that he loves me and is willing and able to take care of me. Oh, and Dad was right. It was very difficult to dig out (well, if the names Phil called it were any indication; I distinctly heard him refer to it as the devil several times!). To quote: "It came out of the ground, is pure evil, and a woman lead me to it; sounds like the devil to me!"
So, now I have to decide on what rose bushes (or other plants if you have a suggestion) I am going to plant there. Here's a picture of "the devil" plant (after we hacked it to make certain it's dead), and here's a shot of the big hole in my front yard now.

UPDATE: P.S. I just ordered two trees from http://www.freetreesandplants.com/index.html. I'll let you know how it works out. If they're really great, it'd be a great way to add some trees to your yard or start a new landscaping at a new place (hint: The Mom)!

from dad

Hi everybody this is me (dad) hope everyone gets this. going good here. very busy trying to get a handle on everything before I start to work ( some where). I am on the CFC comp and I can't down load pics. Hopefully I can get to a wireless soon. Love everybody, Dad

My Favorite House in Charleston

So, we wandered all over downtown Charleston Wednesday after we got done with the boats... err, I mean ships. When we got done with the ships. We walked all along the Charleston City Market (on N and S Market Sts), got a Ben & Jerry's milkshake, and then we walked down to the Battery. Needless to say, after all the walking, both mine and Phil's feet were really tired. But, we decided to return up East Bay St to where we'd parked the car instead of walking back up Meeting St. On our way back, I made Phil walk up one of the streets (don't remember which one, now) and take a picture of this house. I absolutely love it! There were plenty of big homes, beautiful homes, and big and beautiful homes, but this one was the prettiest, in my opinion. (Besides, taking a picture of this house was a nice break for my feet!) What do you all think about the house?
